Jakobie Inexperienced, Dr. LaShawn Frost, Jean Battie celebrated for academic inspiration

In honor of Black Historical past Month, Sarasota County Colleges lately acknowledged three proficient African-American educators for his or her influence and contributions to the neighborhood. Future educator Jakobie Inexperienced, present educator Dr. LaShawn Frost and legacy educator Jean Battie, represented by her widower, Hank Battie, had been acknowledged throughout a particular presentation at a current Faculty Board assembly.

Educators honored in celebration of Black Historical past Month are:

• Future Educator: Jakobie Inexperienced. Jakobie is a sophomore at Booker Excessive Faculty with aspirations to turn out to be a trainer and ultimately a decide. He’s extremely concerned with faculty and neighborhood actions and is regularly honing his management expertise. Jakobie serves as a pupil consultant on a number of boards, together with CareerSource Suncoast. He credit his academics and directors at Emma E.
